Is there no way to get the cuts reinstated?

This film was heavily cut down in order to get an R rating and many of the kills were originally very creative and violent, is there any way for fans to push for a restored uncut version of the film, perhaps via a Kickstarter campaign or something?

reply

Nope. The original negatives containing the cut footage were destroyed. The only surviving medium is a crappy bootleg. They would need the actual film to do a restoration, otherwise it's out of the question. They couldn't do one even if they wanted to without those negatives.

on the dvd i have of it (i dont have the blu ray boxset yet, sadly, so maybe theres more on them)theres the deleted kills, but they look like crap. stupid mpaa ruins horror movies all the time. we're the ones paying to see the movie, shouldn't we be allowed to see all the violence we want in a slasher movie?

Unfortunately, studios did not seem to have had the standard of putting out an unrated version on home video after the theatrical R-rated release in the 80's.

The only thing you can do is watch the crappy bootleg footage on DVD bonus features and memorize it so that you can visualize it while watching the R-rated cut of the movie.
