John Amos and Madge Sinclair both starred together in this, and in Roots. I thought it was kind of ironic that John Amos says to James Earl Jones "I'm gonna break my foot off on your royal ass!!!" In Roots, he did in fact have half of his foot cut off.

Even more ironic that the man who played adult Kunta Kinte (Amos) says that to the man who played adult Alex Haley (Jones).

That was probably a nod to that scene in Roots.

None of these things is ironic. They are only coincidences.
