no wonder the restaurant chain never took off

the strange thing is there was no need to put his hand on them. you should be able to flip a burger without having to use your off hand to keep the patty still. unless the patty was moving...

The director, DP and PAs didn't do a good job there. They should have taken multiple shots for him to flip without touching.

HUH?!
The whole joke was that Mr Mcdowell doesn't give a crap about health laws and touched the patties with his bare hand. It's not a 'goof' in the production of the movie.

reply

I don't know about that. Seems to me he and his daughters are pretty serious about the success of their restaurant.

reply

That doesn't mean he doesn't cut corners. He is serious about MAKING MONEY.

Him touching the patties to flip them goes perfectly with him taking a customers drink and giving it to Darryl. If people here can't watch a simple movie without misinterpreting the explicit jokes. Then I have been shocked again on IMDB.

reply

if you make your customers really ill they won't be able to give you much cash. lowers the chances for repeat biz.

How is it cutting corners by flipping the patties with your hands touching? It actually takes less effort and time to scoop and flip the patties with one hand if you know how to do it right. And the scene with Cleo giving Daryl the shake is of course humor in itself because he cares less for his customer at the time than he did the guy who's rich and might be able to provide for his daughter for life.

i didn't say it was.

I know I replied to you directly but it was more for the Definition guy.

If the point of the scene waant to laugh at Cleo's disregard of hygiene regulaions, then what wasthe point. When Cleomdidit, the worker had to step aside and let Cleo do it, all the while looking l,Ike what are you doing?

There's no way it's a 'goof'.

reply

You're looking too far into the scene to find something funny. Maybe he washed his hands right after he tended to the garbage or right before he touched those patties.

this is definitely a goof, good call.

seen this film about 25 times and never caught that

reply

The burgers are seething hot - a slight touch on a patty by a finger will not contaminate it as the heat will kill any bacteria at those temperatures.

Where there's smoke, there's barbecue!

you are seeing things! thx!

I have seen the movie tons of times and noticed the scene but don't think anything of it because there really isn't anything to it. People are just making it out to be more than what it is.

he's sly about it!

A day without sunshine is like, you know, night.

reply

Also notice how he only flips half the burgers.

reply

So, he was outside. So what? There is nothing unsanitary about "outside". As long as he hadn't wiped his nose or his ass, or touched doorknobs and stuff that other people had touched, there was no problem. Besides, the burgers were being cooked at high temperature, which would have killed any cooties.
