Does anybody know how he recovered instantly from the serum? He was phased out at first and then all of a sudden got up and killed everyone. The only explanation I could think of was that he used his martial arts training to overcome the effects of the drug?

He initially faked that it was affecting him. Took advantage of the villains, semi - releasing him cleaned them up...then collapses from the effects of the drug and you see his colleagues racing to help him.
