Carol was MUCH more sensible when the show began.

I haven't seen this show in years and hardly remember the details.

When I started to watch on LAFF they were airing season 6 and 7. It didn't take long for Carol to grate my nerves. Ugh, lol she was beyond repair.

So now they are airing the first season and I am like WTF? Carol actually seems like she has a brain and independence. TBH, she seems a bit krusty, sarcastic, and much more down to earth.

It's crazy how a sitcom can change so much.

I agree, for the most part.

In the later seasons, they had lost Kristy McNichol. And that was a big loss.

She really added to the dynamic of the show.

And much of the show was built around the tension between the two sisters.

When McNichol left, that pulled the carpet out from under the basic premise of the show.

So, I guess, they did what they could with the Carol (Dinah Manoff) character.

It happens a lot in sitcoms, they run out of ideas or lose a character and so have to change another one. They could have brought in another female co star but the show was probably on it's last legs by then anyway.
