computer works on the boat??

Towards the end of the film, during the Bluestar montage, there's a scene of Wildman on his boat, looking at the stocks on his computer.
I was a kid in the eighties, so was that possible back then? How would the computer receive info in the middle of the ocean?

reply

Maybe back then people were so new to computers that the filmmakers were able to flub that concept without anyone questioning it haha

There were (a) ship-to-shore phones and (b) modems.

Short wave was used for data in a lot of cases as well.

If you ever see the TV show Emergency (early 70s), the remote vitals monitor machine they use is done via short wave. It's data transfer too.

Never thought I’d be on a boat
