Nicolas Cage was only 23 years old in this.

Anyone else surprised at how young Cage was when this was filmed? He just looks so much more mature than 23.

The most amazing thing was that the same year, he starred in Moonstruck opposite Cher, who was nearly 20 years his senior. There was never any sense of it being a cougar-type situation; while the movie doesn't explicitly mention how old his character is, it seems to imply he's more or less the same age as she. And just a year before that, he was in Peggy Sue Got Married where he played both a teenage and middle-aged version of the same character.

He definitely had a mature look for someone so young. In fact, it wasn't until years after seeing Moonstruck as a kid (which was shortly after I saw Raising Arizona) that I found out he hadn't been mid-30ish at the time. The revelation threw me. With or without facial hair, he did not look like a 23-year-old. Many actors of that age are still playing teens.

That's nothing. Nathan Arizona was only 38. Died two years later.

Damn. I didn't know Trey Wilson died only two years later. That's a shame. Nathan Arizona was my favorite character in the movie.

That father character was only 38? I thought he was in his 50s. Must've been some good hair and makeup work.
