Is it ok for men to like this movie?

A friend recommended this movie to me. I'm considering buying the DVD, but just want to make sure, is this a movie that is ok for men to like? Or is it more of a girl's movie? (I'm a man btw)

SPOILERS....

Well, from the grandfather (played by Peter Falk), we know that at least three generations of men in his family enjoyed having the book read to them when they were sick.

I think the whole point of The Princess Bride is to be a story that men will enjoy. In the beginning, the grandson is very suspicious of the book "Is this a Kissing book?". Perhaps he thought that it would be like Snow White or Sleeping Beauty, where someone falls asleep under a spell that can only be broken with a kiss. In The Princess Bride, something similar does happen to Westley, but it's not a spell and he's not asleep. Instead, he was tortured until he was "almost dead" to quote Miracle Max. Instead of a kiss bringing him back to life, his friends give him a chocolate covered horse pill made by Miracle Max, so that they can storm a castle guarded by dozens of men.

Most of the characters in the film are men having all sorts of adventures, and the grandson at the end loves the book so much he doesn't even mind that it ends with the two main characters kissing.

Despite the title, I know of more men who love this film than women. It's got everything.

The title does seem misleading. It could have just as well been called something else, like "The Dread Pirate Roberts". Perhaps the author was being sly.

It's a film that men, women and children can enjoy. It's a good story and so funny.

You wouldn't be a real man if you didn't like this movie. 

Anyone worried that much must be in the closet.

Of course it's ok. It's all matter of taste. Anyone can like any type of film. If it's your cup of tea than so be it. Regardless of this so called trivial labels of being a girly movie or manly movie.

*beep* yeah it is!

(I have seen the 66 previous posts, but I just gotta say it again).

I encourage men to watch and enjoy this movie. There's something in it for everyone. I know there are people out there that don't like this movie and that makes me sad... but it's one of my personal favorites.

My brothers and my dad LOVE this movie... I think we've watched at least once a year for the past two decades lol.
