Filming locations for the movie then and now

Some of Planes, Trains & Automobiles was shot in my hometown of Woodstock, IL.

More specifically, the scene near the end where Neal and Del get picked up by the semi truck that has the driver freaky about people riding up front so the two guys are forced to ride in the back.

The Braidwood Inn was right off Interstate I55, about 45 minutes south of Chicago, in the city of, what else, Braidwood! That is I-55 you can see in the background when they are out front. I used to love driving by it because it look exactly the same as the movie.

After driving past about 5 years ago, I was sad to see it is no longer the Braidwood Inn. ?

The "You're going the wrong way!" scene was filmed in Western NY on Rt. 219, which was being extended, and under construction at the time, between Buffalo and Springville, New York.
