Movie you associate with eating most

Like most people that visit this site, I just finished watching Moonstruck again and it prompted me to go to IMDB to see what kinds of topics were being discussed.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that is borderline obsessed with the eating scenes of the movie. Everything looks so good, especially the bread with egg in the middle.

I started thinking about other movies that had memorable scenes involving food. (Some might be a bit obscure)

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the scene where they enter at the beginning and start tearing into the candy)
Fatso (Dom DeLuise dunking a piece of bread in sauce at his cousin's wake)
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother (Gene Wilder eats and entire box of rich chocolates to hide the fact he knocked them to the floor)
Monty Pythons the Meaning of Life (Man literally explodes from eating one mint too much)

And for honorable mention, two Little Rascals episodes (don't know titles), the first dealing with Valentines Day and Spanky switching out a cheese sandwich and cream puff with sliced and liquid soap that Alfalfa eats, and an episode that they go camping and forget to bring food, but Spanky and Scotty have the thickest jelly sandwiches I have ever seen!

Boy, I must have too much time on my hands! I'd be interested to hear scenes that anyone else recalls,

OMG! Thanks for reminding of the Little Rascals! I loved the Valentine's scene! This is non-food related but ... my fave is the International Silver String Submarine Band! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFnJa9Tlk0k

One of my fave movies that always makes me want Chinese food is the Joy Luck Club. And Iron Monkey also has some delicious looking Chinese food scenes.

Kid movie Warriors of Virtue has this great Chinese kung fu/cooking scene that I love!

Johnny Depp's character made me want to try his fave dish, puerco pibil, in Once Upon a Time in Mexico. And Frida, where they're eating mole.

Also, Bend it Like Beckham makes me want Indian food.

And Goodfellas has good food scenes that make me want Italian food.

Sedagive?!!!

Spanglish -- when Adam Sandler makes that delicious sandwich and pours a beer -- yum yum. I even googled the movie and found a recipe! I'm semi-fond of the movie but love love that food scene!

reply

That is really odd whenever I watch Godfather I want to go order pizza or a calzone from the local italian place.

reply

Goodfellas for me. The scene where Tommy's mother makes them food and the scene near the end where Henry's family is all having dinner together. I'm sure there are more, but I can't remember them now.

reply

Goodfellas taught me two things--slice garlic razor-thin, so's to liquify in the oil, and to never let the sauce stick.

Also, when watching Pulp Fiction, I can't decide if I want a hambuger, vanilla shake, a bowl of Cap'n Crunch, or a cup of gourmet coffee.

And who doesn't crave onion rings after the Sopranos finale?

reply

Curiously enough (or maybe not!), Lorenzo's Oil. That film has caused me to make more spaghetti and salad dinners ...

I'm all right, I'm alllll right!

Hands down, 1996's "Big Night," with Stanley Tucci.

"You can't HANDLE the truth!" Jack Nicholson, "A Few Good Men."

Dinner Rush

That's the one I thought of also.

Short Cut, Draw Blood

Well 'Julie and Julia' has some big mess meals, but also some very pretty food now and again. The French market shots are lovely.

Cheers,

LMAO the dinner in "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" with all of the sponsor food; I wish I could eat all of that and still be as slim as the wife...

reply

Tampopo! It's about eating from start to end!

Rome. By all means, Rome.

The Godfather 1 and 2. I one day hope to watch them while eating some amazing Italian meal (with plenty of tomato sauce) and a good red wine...maybe cabernet sauvignon (though it's not Italian) or chianti.
