I cringe now with this scene

Being a father now and watching this movie with my young son I cringed when Dracula called the little girl a b*tch. I mean really? Was that needed? Cursing just to curse is not cool.

reply

Yes, it was needed. Dracula is a monster. Not a nice guy.

Let's be bad guys.

I see.

So what I think we can take from this, is that in some cases, when you become a father, your personality transforms into that of an old woman?

I know right, what a jerk! Can't these monsters be civil?

Anyone here mentions Hotel California dies before the first line clears his lips.

reply

Man up, he is Dracula

reply

The girl is adorable, but Dracula calling her a little bitch is funny. And no, it doesn't feel out of place.

You want something corny? You got it!

Poor Phoebe would have needed serious therapy after being called an expletive and lifted off the ground like that. Who wouldn't have nightmares. But her bff Frankenstein was pretty scary looking.

reply

She was lifted off with a platform.

I'm so excited, I think I'll brush all my teeth today!

reply

They say Duncan Regehr always went out of his way to make sure the little girl was comfortable with the scary parts before filming.

Dracula's the villain. He supposed to do things that horrify you and make you feel uncomfortable. If he doesn't, he isn't threatening and/or you don't care if he's defeated.

I mean, really, how many times will you look under Jabba's manboobs?

Yeah, but this is a light-hearted horror comedy. I don't think anything in this movie was supposed to "horrify you" or "make you feel uncomfortable".

reply

I dunno, it struck me as being relatively scary in many parts.

Omg....Grow a pair.

I didn't feel offended or anything, kids hear that sort of cursing all the time. I think my real problem was that it didn't feel really in-character for Dracula considering how he's portrayed in most media, it seems to me that he'd find some more 'sophisticated' insults than that.

reply

That's how I felt about it. Just didn't sound like something that would ever come out of Dracula ' mouth, in a kid's movie, a comic, a novel or even a rated R portrayal.

reply

Did the wolfman steal your nards or something? Besides she was a b*tch, she called the rest of the Monster Squad chickensh!t. Seems to me the kids have much worse potty mouths than Dracula, they say the darndest things in this movie and spout most of the cursing and slurs.

"Dan Marino should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell. Would you like a cookie son?"
