Yes you are right. I liked this one better because it didn't try to take itself seriously like part 1 pretty much did. I mean part one focused more on action, this one was more focused on comedy.

LordInfamus and Cava-1 are butt buddies!!

This film was a good deal of blithely campy fun. 8 out of 10 from me.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

Definitely, the other one was just a spectacularly ****ty fantasy action movie and this one was a very watchable fantasy comedy.

Returning to these movies for the first time since childhood I was disappointed with the first film. There were some enjoyable moments, but in all I found it pretty lacking even by the standards of the genre. Rick Hill has all the charisma and acting talent of a cardboard cutout, and his fight scenes aren't exactly redemptive. The addition of John Terlesky alone would have made the sequel a much more tolerable film, but it also introduces a stunning romantic interest/damsel in distress who, like the new Deathstalker, is far more charismatic and watchable than anyone from the first film. The sense of humor they had about this one also makes it a blast to watch. Even the soundtrack is better this time around. The livelier script and cast, along with improved action (Rick Hill may have been buff but Terleski pulls off his feats of swordsmanship with a lot more flare), just make for a much more enjoyable film.

Plus, the titular duel at the end of the film was pretty great. Made yet more enjoyable by the fact that all the fighting was done by the actors themselves and not some Argentinian stunt doubles.

It's a shame they went with someone else for the third film, and it's even more of a shame that they brought back Rick "Lurch" Hill for the fourth film and went back to the dull and lifeless style of the original to accommodate his total lack of acting ability.

I agree that it was better than the first! How is this not in IMDB's top 250? .
A fun, fun movie. John Terlesky was great here. You could tell he was having a blast, and he was definitly leagues better than Rick Hill.

i'm not really looking for "sex, nudity and gore" (though i anyway didn't find anything in deathstalker 1 sexy but only intimidating), i just think that deathstalker 2 has better characters, development and story.
