Just brought this film

And I actually loved it, wish it was still called Bloody pom poms in the uk though, just for the camp value lol

Anyways I was wondering if anyone could help me by sujesting some more films, like this one, which I could buy.
Anything from the 80's, scary or camp with dark humor or tromaesque type things.

I have brought the following films, so if you can name anything not on the list for me to add to my ever growing collection, well that would be just super now =)

Ok I have just brought

April fools day
friday the 13th pt 2 & 3
Class of nuke 'em high
Toxic avenger 1, 2 &3
Surf nazis must die
return to horror high
once bitten
Chearleader camp
chopping mall<------------ I really liked this one, anymore that are like this?
manic cop 1&2
Return of the living dead 1,2 &3
basket case
Prom night 2
House<--------- What are the sequels like? any good?

Any help you can give would be great , thanks in advance

( Sorry if you have read this thread on another film, just wanted to get as many points of view as poss)

Wow there were plenty of slasher/campy 80s horror films...some that come to mind are:

Sleepaway Camp (Pts 1-3)
My Bloody Valentine
Prom Night (original 1980)
Happy Birthday To Me
Slaughter High
Student Bodies (spoofs horror from the 70s & 80s, really funny!)
Fright Night (creepy vampires with some humor mixed in)
Motel Hell
Christine
The Funhouse
The Hills Have Eyes (I recommend the original but the remake was ok too)
House of 1,000 Corpses & The Devil's Rejects (most don't know for some odd
reason these 2 go hand-in-hand)
The People Under The Stairs (creeps you out and makes u laugh at the same time)

I'm gonna quit while ahead...but you can check out the thread for "top 30 favorite horror movies...." It's on the IMDB page for Friday the 13th (2009) and there are at least 3 pages of posts that you can read and see if any movies jump out at you

hey there,

I have built up a bit of a collection since posting this thread, um let me see... ok, been scanning through my birthday present of the book Nightmare USA for inspiration ( and horror films of the 1980's)

I've seen black christmas finally ( funny how it was like a £5 in woolie (rip) cheap chart, then as soon as that black xmas film came out they re-release it as a tartan extreme title and it cost £16.99 in my local HMV!!!
I really liked it, specially since it didn't have a happy end...=)

Alice sweet alice, been trying to get this... do you know of anywhere cheap to purchase? ( I tend to buy the vanillia disc and if I like it I go get the full all singing dancing versions.

Evil dead... yeppidy yep .. classics, anyone seen I am bruce yet?

Not seen don't go into the woods ( alone!) I do like the cover though, 80's glasses baby... any good?

I got final exam.. didn't thik it was great though, cool idea that there wasn't the typical reveal of the killer and his motives like all the slasher/masked killer films.

I'm not sure about Graduation.. thats not graduation day right?

I've also seen, The prowler, silent night, deadly night the Argentos and american werewolf.

I really wanted to see splatter university, but on here and in the books i've read they haven't given it a very good review, do you have something to compare it to??

I'm currently watching "His name was Jason" and have just brought Behind the mask ( 2006 but it got good reviews and I like humour with my horror)

Thanks for replying btw =)

i live in the US so i was able to purchase alice sweet alice for $20 from amazon.com.

dont go in the woods (alone) technically speaking is not good. its really cheap and typical. but i like it cause its funny and a completist's must-have. the dvd i have (25th anniversary edition) has lots of extra features.

yeah i meant graduation day, my bad! i like that one a lot, i think its creepy and fun. i think its one of the better slashers of that year (not better than friday the 13th though!)

lots of people dont like splatter university cause it is very low budget and cheesy. but i like the cheesy 80's horror movies. i would compare it to the last slumber party. have you seen that one? i dont wanna spoil anything for you, but the ending isnt typical for 80's horror movies.

i rented 'his name was jason' from netflix but they only sent the first disc. is the second disc any good? worth buying?

I think in the UK Alice sweet alice is called communion??? still doesn't seem to be available widely ( well at least where I shop!)

I Just found a copy of Don't go into the woods alone on ebay the 25th anniversary ed, why is there something to do with CKY on there btw?

Oh I like Graduation day too, very psycho-esque towards the end, the slasher/horrors in the 80's either seemed to lean towards either adding a carrie or psycho type flavor to the set pieces I think the directors call it a "tribute" haha

It would seem I've not seen half as many of these 80's cheesefest flms than I thought, No I haven't seen the last slumber party, but I'm going to look out for it now ( I had been going through the movie hounds cult flicks and trash pics book for films to hunt dow =) I have also been looking for slumber party massacre 2, i like a little rock and roll with my cheese lol.

His name was jason disc two is worth it I think, there are loads of bits that have been cut out from the main documentary are are probably only really that interesting to a massive fan and people who want to know all the extraneous details of filming, lots more in depth stories about things that happened on set, and more about the fans, merch etc.
The how to survive camp crystal lake bit like the book how to survive a horror movie ( no sex drink or drugs mainly lol)
And a kinda tribute to he reduced shakespear company " friday the 13th in four minutes" is cool =)my copy came with a poster too.

Oh and I just got a Vincent price from madhouse tattoo whooop

the last slumber party has so much charm to it! its so-bad-that-its-good. try looking for "scream theatre double feature - the last slumber party & terror at tenkiller". i dont like terror@tenkiller as much, but the double feature dvd is only $5 (plus shipping, its usually only available online). im not sure if its available in the uk though, try looking for it!
