I think you have to be invited. I think they kind of had to invite him by default since he was the champion, its pretty bad form to not invite the champion back. The only exception would be actually cheating but as evil as it was killing and maiming opponents was not technically disallowed, just considered bad sportsmanship.

The powder in Frank's eyes was cheating but somehow nobody noticed not even that referee guy who was standing right there.

However, now that he is not champion they can choose not to invite him back and of course they won't.

Also, the guy was 42 years old (my rule of thumb, my "default" for the age of characters in movies if the movie does not tell us the character's age or make it obvious in some way is to assume that the actor at time of filming and the character are the same age, and Bolo Yeung was 42 when the movie was filmed) and his very first loss was to Frank Dux. After so many years of never losing such a loss, an especially humiliating one where he has to say matee would probably break his spirit. I imagine him turning into a gross fat drunk or bum or something.

He probably would in that Universe but he would get a lot of people laughing behind his back that he gave up and then he flashes that evil smile with his teeth gritted and they stop

He would not because he has a military career that he had already jeopardized by going AWOL and the only reason charges were not pressed against him was because of how valuable he was, he was probably the most physically fit of the soldiers and the all around best at hand to hand combat by far but if he AWOLed again he might be pushing his luck.

Also, the metaphorical "mountain" only needs to be climbed once as Mr Mayagi said in Karate Kid 3. He was not entering the Kumite for personal glory the way most including Chong Li were, I am sure he enjoyed the glory some but his real motivation was to honor his sensei, which he had already done.

That being said, it would be funny IF he and Chong Li both showed up next year and Frank looks right at Chong and says "If you try that powder crap in my eyes again I am going to kill you"

I do not think someone like Chong Li could bear to face Frank for a rematch knowing that even after blinding him Frank won, especially since he would not even be able to use the powder again as Frank was on to that.

Plus even though nobody not even that referee guy seemed to notice the powder incident and although it was not shown in the film if I was Frank Dux I would have reported the incident to the authorities of the kumite. I would have said "Chong Li cheated by throwing blinding powder in my eyes, he should be permanently banned from the Kumite". An "investigation" could be done where they comb the mat for trace amounts of the powder and examine Frank's eyes for trace amounts as well. Also, that powder was stored in the pocket of Chong Lis shorts so the Kumite committee could say to Chong: We are conducting an investigation. Either turn over your shorts now (before you have time to clean them) so we can search for the residue in the pockets) or you will be permanently banned from the Kumite.

I have seen enough of those hi tech detective shows to know about finding drug residues.

Well there was a sequel, and Ray Jackson was there, but Chong Li wasn't.

Why does everyone keep saying he was 42? IMDB gives his date of birth as February 27, 1946 and the movie was released April 29, 1988. The movie was finished filming before February 27, 1986, so he was technically 41 in the movie, and 42 when it was released.

But wikipedia says that his birthday is July 3, 1946 (as opposed to February 27, 1946 that IMDB says). It also says the film was released February 26, 1988 (as opposed to April, 29, 1988 like IMDB says).

Either way, he was 41 in the movie.

It should depend on what year Bloodsport 2 takes place. Kumite is every 5 years and Ray Jackson is in the sequel as a north American liaison similar to what Lin was doing in this movie. Bloodsport 2 came out in 1996.

I dont know if he return but he changes his ways regret his past and begining a new peaceful life as a restaurant owner and train a new young aspiring to the tournament

That was a movie i saw as a kid and for the life of me i cant find it anywhere, was Bolo Yeung playing the same part of Chong Li i tought it was going to be easy find that movie because should be a sequel of Bloodsport but i checked in Letterboxd and this movie have 3 sequels and none of those is the movie i watched, i suppose to know the name of that movie i must check the entiry filmography of Yeung because this is start to bother me i know i saw that movie, so must be somewhere is strange is not a sequel of Bloodsport because was the same character even have flasback about he killing that guy in Bloodsport

Ok find the movie the title is Shootfighter: Fight to the Death with Martin Kove (the Cobra Kai instructor from karate Kid) as the villain, and with "Jhonny Lawrence" Willian Zabka also from Karate Kid as one of the main figthers

The name of the character is change to Shingo so maybe i dont remember the movie very well after all i was a kid when i saw this movie but i would swear have flashbacks of Bloodsport i have to watch it again just to clarified my doubts
