Hi, I'm looking for a copy of barfly.
I don't have $120 for the dvd.
yes, it's a wounderfuly dark movie, but worth $120? hmmm, I think not.
infact I can't name any dvd worth that much.
I'm willing to pay for a copy, if someone is willing to copy it for me.
I'm still in school and money is hard to come by,but it's worth,say $20.

Wow, I had no idea, but you're right, Amazon was the only place I could find it. And you were right about the price. I feel very blessed to own my copy now. I don't have the capabilities to make a copy of the disk myself. I would recommend posting basically the same thing you just said in a Buk forum.

Or you can go purchase it from a blockbuster video store for about $21. Because blockbuster has ended late fees, all of their titles are on a rent-to-own basis. So you pay for the rental of it and if you want to keep it, do so. They will bill you for it later, or you can pay to own the movie when you check it out.
My local blockbuster had a copy that I purchased from them, which is how I know.

I bought a copy on ebay for 27.00 from a video dealer in greece.It has greek writing on the case and greek subtitles but the movie is in english. Also you need to have a dvd player that you can program to play dvds from other regions.

You can get it from any decent torrent tracker.

This film is a showcase for that the IP rights regarding film does not work as it should.

I bought it on VHS on ebay for $16. Works fine and everything. It has a sticker of some video store in Toronto, CA. ha

you can rent it from netflix, and probably many other video rental places.

it's also on bit torrent sites.

Seriously, this guy is a twat. I rented it form Netflix, and I know others that have done the same. I also burned myself a copy when I rented it from Netflix.

Otherwise, try bit torrent, jackass.

I've been a member of Netflix for three years, and Barfly has been sitting in my Unavailable section since day one. Consider you and these so called others lucky.

I guess whatever copies of Barfly Netflix had, I guess people must have sold them after renting them since the movie fetches such a high price.

Can't remember if I already posted this here: If you want the company to release the DVD again to make it affordable please sign the online petition! Just Google "barfly dvd petition" and you'll find it easily. They don't post your email address or even let the petition-maker see it without your permission.

Too bad that company didn't realize (and apparently still don't realize) what a great classic they have on their hands. It's a definite "sleeper" in that sense!

Criticism is hard to take, particularly from a relative, friend, acquaintance or stranger.

Thanks for the petition site info Tekla-too. I've rented Barfly from Netflix in the past but the last time I rented it (several years ago) the one they sent was in really bad shape. When I tried to rent it again last year I sadly discovered it was out of print. It's been in my 'save' queue ever since. I would love to own this movie. Hopefully the powers that be read those petition sites. I agree that it's definately a sleeper (and a classic) - Barfly is one of those films that only gets better with time.

Even made out as a CD with chapters.
