Remake the series

I know it would be impossible to replace the late great Chuck Connors. But this was such a good series that I think it could use a remake.

Whoever came up with the character of Janos Skorzeny deserved an award.

I'd like to see a remake, myself--providing there's no CGI! They'd have to include more conflicts, however, than just Eric chasing Skorzeny around. It seems as though that was getting a little thin toward the end...

reply

Agreed 100 percent. Best idea I've heard in a long while.

reply

I'm not totally against the idea of CG. The kind of werewolf they used in the series was a little hard to pull off using makeup and special effects. They were great, but maybe with today's stuff could be done a little better. Arguably for the time, next to American Werewolf in London, some of the best costume and speciall effects dine on a werewolf costume.

reply

Rick Baker did this shows makeup and American Werewolf you know it would be mostly CGI and we would be lucky if the mixed some Practical in there and they would have some stuff in there Like Eric Cord would be gay or his roommate would be

reply

yes i agree also this was a great series i loved watching it as a 10 year old kid it would be great as an hbo show not reg t.v though

reply

Why this doesn't get a second chance is beyond me. They've made so many vampire series in the past 15+ years (Forever Knight, Buffy,Angel, now Moonlight). Why can't a werewolf series be made? Recast and them remake werewolf and give it the recognition it deserves.

reply

NO CGI EVER!!! CGI has ruined almost every new horror movie that comes out. It is so awful to see cartoon gore in horror movies. Go back to the old way of spraying real fake blood and gore all over the place. DOWN WITH CGI!!!

reply

I'd say yes to a remake. it's been over 20 years since Werewolf first appeared on FOX.

Welcome to the human race.

FYI the name "Janos Skorzeny" was a character from "The Night Stalker" movie with Darren McGavin as Karl Kolchak. He was a Vampire in that movie. When Werewolf came along they must have thought it was a cool name and that no one would remember. Just so that you know.

I would love to see a remake of this series, provided Fox network has nothing to do with it. That network is run by the biggest A-holes on the planet, and I hate them so much. This was a great show and I watched faithfully even until the last episode. It's a shame what happened to it, and hopefully it will get new life and treated properly by a network that cares to try cultivating an audience, but I won't hold my breath.

Just finished watching the whole series. I'm so annoyed it ended as it did, that I'd be happier with a continuation. Of course everyone has inconveniently aged 20 years since the show, but at least Brian Thompson doesn't have that ridiculous puffy hair anymore.

I'm at odds with some of the posters here. I thought the show was getting better with 'Dreams of Wolves' and 'Gray Wolf'. Of course 'Blind Luck' and 'Amazing Grace' were horrid, but no more than 'Blood on the Tracks' or 'All Hallow's Eve'

The show was certainly before its time, at least when it was good.

PAX...

I just re-lived part of my childhood....I sat thru every episode and just loved it. I got to the final sceene of the last episode and so want this to comeback to life. Have the people who did Dog Soldiers do the wolf suits for this. It would be amazing. even if they brough c.g.i into it ( I myself am not a huge c.g.i. fan ) I think i'll write my congressman today and demand WEREWOLF to be redone =-)

I would absolutely love for a remake of this. Of course, I was not born when this show was cancelled, BUT my dad had recorded every episode back then and I watched them all growing up. I would love to see a remake of this amazing series, and for once I think I would agree that this remake should have some difference from the original plot, such as adding other supernatural creatures to the mix (Witches, vampires, etc) and spicing up the plot.

Save the trees my ARSE!!!

reply

I agree with you about adding other supers too the show. Kind of like "Being Human" I just don't want them all being friends and living together. When and if it ever gets a green light I also hope they avoid killing the show with (evil, evil, CGI) The Werewolves should be done like the ones in "Dog Soldiers"

reply

Agreed. See, at least Being Human has the good grace to use make up when the werewolf transforms.

The only thing I hope is they do not pull the *beep* they did with Firefly and Wolf Lake and cancel a great show that does not become an overnight hit.

Actually the character of "Janos Skorzeny" has already existed long before "Werewolf" ever debuted on TV. "Janos Skorzeny" was the name of the main character in "The Night Stalker" TV movie of 1972 starring Darren McGavin which then went on to become "The Night Stalker" TV series. Skorzeny was a vampire who police thought was a serial killer and it was up to good ol Karl Kolchak to track him down. The makers of "Werewolf" whoever it was that may have come up with the character probably remembered the character and/or name from the "Night Stalker" TV movie and used the name figuring no one would remember. Just so that you know.

I've always thought this would be a good show to revive. The effects were top notch for it's day, but I am sure they could do as well or better now. Keep the same style of effects with only the CGI that is neccesary.

The most important thing is the get the right actors and writers on board.

I agree remake

"Touchdoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooown Auburn"

reply

Nope, can't be done. Where are you going to get another writer with the name of LUPO who wants to write about werewolves?
