I know something about those very traditional outfits the 3 Amigos wore. Mexicans still wear them today for dancing and for festivals. The major difference is the white stiching. Normally the stitching is very basic but in the 3 Amigaos case its absolutely excessive and outrageous.
Its kind of funny when you're in the know and can get an additional chuckle from that tidbit they tossed in...

I know, I've also seen some mariachi bands with similar outfits but not as Hollywooded up like the amigos.
