How about Courtney Love

Surprisingly, there is not topic here about Courtney Love in this movie. You know, she had a small part in Sid and Nancy movie playing Nancy's friend. But she herself wanted to play Nancy. I think she would have been perfect as Nancy. I have nothing against the actress who played Nancy but I kind of feel like Courtney would have been a better choice. Yes, she had no acting experience at the time but her own life story and even her looks bear such similarity to actual Nancy.
How do you feel?

I think Courtney would have been a much better choice, too. The scenes with her and Chloe Webb together were so odd to watch; Chloe Webb looks like she's wearing a punk costume rather than completely owning it, if that makes sense, and the difference between her and Courtney is quite jarring.

Love auditioned for the role. The producers (understandably) insisted that a professional actor be hired for the role. After meeting Love, Alex Cox wrote a new part just for her. I have no doubt that he did this so that Love could be on set and help to inspire something out of Webb.

Courtney looked about 17years old then, Oldman looked far older, they would have looked like father and daughter together.. Nancy actually looked older than Sid in real life haha
