6.8?

Ruthless People is being constantly played on cinemax. There are very few films that hold up today just as they did when they first premiered in July of 1986. I saw this at the movies in the summer of 1986. The entire crowd was laughing non-stop. I had to go see it again a few weeks later just to catch all the jokes. Of course a movie ticket only cost $2.50 then. This film and Running Scared (1986) are two films that deserve at least an 8 or higher from imdb. Too bad they don't make films like these two anymore. The jokes were funny in '86 and they are just as funny in '12. Man, I miss the 80's. Good times!

glad you like it , one of the best comedy movies ever made for sure

Yeah I think rating is too low, must be all those modern audience who like Michael Bay stuff and cannot apreciate this kind of movies

It really should at LEAST be a 7!

I think a 6.8 is pretty good for an outrageous comedy. I don't mean that disrespectfully, it's easily among my favourite 80s comedies. But I tend to expect that pushing the needle north of 7.0 requires some seriousness.

Why the fuck would you think that? You realize that comedy is much harder to do than drama, right? Oh . . . wait a minute . . .

You have to be serious (and often pretentious and dull) to win an Oscar. The ratings on IMDb are people’s choice. If you had said a film must be a Tragedy, in the classical sense, then I MIGHT see your point. Tragedy shows Man at his greatest and most noble. Damn few serious (not funny) films are tragedies; Ghandi, Titanic, Shakespeare in love: dramas, not Tragedies. Comedy shows Man at his most vile and unlikeable. If it makes you laugh, it’s a Comedy.

Not for nothing, ANY actor will tell you that playing Comedy is MUCH harder than playing Tragedy, or drama, or melodrama.

Comedies don't get a rating over 7? It has to be a serious movie to get even a 7.1?

That makes no sense whatsoever.

I just saw this movie first time today, absolutely brilliant! One of the best 80s comedies for sure!

One of the best comedies of ANY era, period. Some Like It Hot, the best comedy thus far, is older.
