Thirty-four. I missed it first time round. Saw McCarthy and Spader Mannequin in the 80s, though.

Could have seen it at the movies in 86, choose to see Ferris Bueller Day Off in stead.

reply

but did you see it after all?

reply

I was 9, it was in 1991

reply

17

I saw it right after it opened in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Anyway, I thought the ending sucked, but I liked the rest of the movie. Much better than the Breakfast Club, IMHO.

reply

I'm seeing it tonight for the very 1st time. I've just bought the DVD. I've heard many things and I've seen clips from it over the years but I've never really fully seen it. I'm 24.
But I looooove the other stuff I've seen from this director like ferris bueller and breakfast club.

So tonight's the night.

I was 21 - I've been living overseas ever since (though I visit the States every few years), but this was the last film I saw before I left the country, so it always makes me nostalgic to watch it again...

Hi everybody! So here's a litle offtopic feedback. I've seen it and I L-O-V-E-D IT! As long as you keep in mind that it's placed in the wonderful 80s, it's great. Although today this still is a touchy topic in society and a very present one, things couldn't develop the same way today. Meaning that nowadays it's worse with the gap and everything. But it's nice. I cried when he told her he loved her. And the music is also---it steals the show. INXS surprised me with their song "Do Wot You Do".
Fantabulous.

I was 17. saw it at the movie theater. and even then it was a fairy tale. Jocks didn't date Geeks; Socials didn't hang out with ropers (or whatever the cliques were called at the high schools others attended). Many a daydream was filled with Andrew McCarthy....*sigh*. i loved john hughes films but could never get into wierd science--maybe because i'm a girl. I also found Some Kind of Wonderful to be a good flick. Another class bending socio-drama :) and another kick a** soundtrack.

16, fab soundtrack, fab movie! Made me want to move to America and have severe words with all those 'James Spader' types!!!

Makes me cry still.....probably cos I'm a sad ole 80's fanatic!

reply

i just saw it two months ago, and i'm only 14, but it has become my favorite film ever!

Lorelai: You ruined my joke.
Rory: Um, no, the punch line ruined your joke.
