Why doesn't Taylor warn the Freelings about how his power works?

I assume that Taylor's power to protect Carol Anne would diminish if he were to speak during the act. If that is so, then why doesn't the supernatural man explain the matter to the Freelings before he needs to do it? He should want them to know that something akin to Robbie being attacked may occur just so that Kane can capture Carol Anne again, and if it does he won't be able to assist the rest of the family. Taylor seems prepared for the nightmarish chaos that he encounters and ought to help Diane, Steven, and Robbie be too so that they don't think that he is abandoning them when they're in trouble.
