Plot-wise, this seems like a kissin' cousin of the Cary-Audrey comedy thriller.

Dennehy's fake cop is like Matthau's phony CIA man. Both were set up by others years earlier and left for dead, and are now taking revenge while enriching themselves with paintings/stamps.

Good point - and someone or some people seem to be trying to kill the much younger girl. However, there's no Winger counterpart in Charade, nor any legal/courtroom equivalent.

Yep, there's definitely a resemblance. And the dude with the shotgun who ends up getting hit by the cab is like George Kennedy in "Charade".
