I wonder what the Phaelons look like

I don't remember the last time I saw this movie. I usually watch stuff I like every so often, but I legit don't think I've seen this since I was a kid. Having just watched it, I realized Max isn't Phaelon, but one of their probes. I'm guessing they are living breathing beings?
