Dangerously Close to What?

Besides being Dangeroulsy close to being watchable, what about this movie does the title refer to.

i assume it means "dangerously close to death," in that during the course of the film, several characters come "dangerously close" to death yet in the end they survive. (in one scene, for example, a noose is put around a character's head, but instead of being lynched he is cut down at the last minute.)

DEATH!!

I'd say this film is indeed watchable, but it's so far away from being a great film. 6/10 stars from me.

Death by boredom.

The correct answer is, to the truth.

I always read it as "to the truth". But its been about 20 years since I last saw this movie. And people saying in this thread "death" made a logical argument.

I have just today got the movie on Blu-Ray and it has the movie's theatrical trailer on it and it says as the movies tagline.

"He's searching for answers. Now he is getting close.....Dangerously Close!"

So its definitely "to the truth". Or more literally "to the answers he seeks"

What you say is true, but death likewise fits that interpretation since "dangerously" suggests the risk of one's life to get said answers.

The protagonist (or good guy) is invited to join the inner circle of the antagonists (or bad guys). The good guy is seduced by the lifestyle that the bad guys live. The bad guys want to keep a close eye and to control the good guy. At any moment, the bad guys could trip up and be exposed for who they are to the good guy. The good guy could figure out who the bad guys are at any moment and expose them for what they are. The relationship between the good guys and the bag guys is a dangerously close one. Get it?

Dangerously close to each other. When different people with different views and personalities and attitudes and differences basically are forced to live so close to each other it can become dangerous as it does in the movie when one side becomes hostile and starts harrassing the other side and even killing them. Two parties who don't get along need their space to keep the tension down but these two parties were forced to go to school together and that caused the rich vigilantes to take their hatred out on the stoner losers etc.

That's how I interpret it anyway...
