Why do old people love Matlock? - Matlock (1986) Discussion

I'm 13, and I think that matlock is a great show. (Is That Bad?) I have been trying to figure out why matlock is considered an "old people" show, and I'm not having any luck

I guess because it was considered "wholesome" with little violence, swearing, etc. and had a moral theme, Matlock would loose a case rather then defend a guilty person. Old fashioned values. That being said I have always loved the show since I was a kid while all my friends were watching mtv.

It's a whole lot better than the crap we get today, that's for sure. And Andy Griffith is just...well, genuine, I guess. We all love to love him.

I'm nineteen, and I watch it with my grandparents. Sort of a tradition thing, I guess. Same with the Andy Griffith Show. I'd much rather watch it than The Bachelor or any other of that "reality" stuff. *shudders*

Well, I'm in my thirties, and I made fun of Matlock when it was first on, but now I can't get enough! I know at times it can be a little cheesy but hey, I love cheese!

One of my friends saw several episodes on my DVR and teased me for months about being "old".

Anyway, it's a great show...as were a lot of the older shows. Thank god for the stations that show these now. Hopefully the younger generations can see shows like Matlock, Andy Griffith, Sanford and Son, etc. and realize that there is a rich history in tv and film to discover.

Matlock is a classic. Just think 10 years of DVD's I will be able to own of this show. Ahhh, life is GREAT!!!!!!!!

I dont know, I'm a 20 year old guy..I love the show, I think Matlock's a pretty cool fella..Only downside is it gets you craving those damn hot dogs

I'm 36 and watched the show from 86-95. It's just something about the show I love and miss about it. It will always be in my top 10. After Matlock I fell in love with another show Diagnosis Murder. Another great show.

I'm 19, and I've liked "Matlock" since I was 11. It isn't an absolute favorite, but I do enjoy the show and watch it when I get a chance. Andy Griffith is my favorite actor.

Well I'm 28 NOW but I loved Matlock in my teens. It was on every day on the local independent channel. Ben had style and smarts. I always loved how he set people up to underestimate him, very Columbo-like, another favorite. Andy Griffith has to be one of the best television actors ever.

Well, I was certainly an old person back in the Matlock days, but my 6 year-old granddaughter loved it just as much as I did. It was the one show of the week we'd sit down and watch together.
