Damn, he's making a move and the body isn't even cold yet!

When Rachel's husband died (what did he die of, anyway - anyone know?), Daniel moves right in and expresses his condolences while the body's in the next room. Apparently, he is the only male to do so, or else why would they have shown it.

I understand that the Amish encourage widows to remarry, but there's encouragement and then there's encouragement. He was calling on her within a few days of her husband's death. Shouldn't she be wearing black and grieving for a few months before he does this? It seemed ridiculously quick for him to be doing so. Sure, Daniel was ridiculously good-looking, but still.

I asked the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

Do we actually know how much time elapsed between her husband's death and the train trip that started the whole thing?

I'm all right, I'm alllll right!

In the book, it's a little less than 2 months after Rachel's husband's death that she attempts to go to Baltimore. Her husband, Jacob, died in a farm equipment accident. Apparently, he fell into a grinder of some kind. Can't remember exactly what the book said. Also, in the Amish cluture, widows are encouraged to marry as soon as possible. Their culture is not like ours at all in that respect.

Stop praising the superficial, made-up looks of hollyweird actors.

They're not 'gorgeous' or 'hot'. The only exception might be Claudia Wells in 'Back to the Future', and even she has a bit of a big nose.

In any case, let's say you are right. That's not realistic anyway, Amish women are as plain as can be, they're not 'gorgeous' or 'hot'.

When women don't wear make-up to fool, trick and lie to the men's eyes, they look pretty ordinary, their faces are just .. faces. There's nothing special about them anymore.

Movies have make-up staff, there's no way she didn't have some kind of make-up done.

Sure, there are 'naturally good-looking women' that look good without make-up, but those are rare, and very hard to find under all the make-up women use anyway (which makes everyone look the same, more or less).

Also, stop being so concerned with looks; even if she WAS gorgeous, external beauty fades, and then what do you have left? Bacteria-filled, ugly lips, droopy eyes and other body parts, lots of attitude and anger, hostility and drama, and a smelly hairy end of a gut that gushes sticky, red, blood-infested goo that absolutely stinks and messes up everything.

Maybe better refrain from making that 'move', after all..
