Vomit-inducing dialogue lines in "St Elmo Fire"

I graduated from Purdue in May 1985, the same year as SEF. Truly unrealistic dialog and character portrayals. Am I the only one that thinks this way? Unbelievably self-absorbed characters.

Eh, it's not a great movie, I'll admit it. I graduated in 87, and I saw a lot of myself in Kirby and Kevin. So it doesn't ring false to me.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

The dialogue is not very well done. It's such a shame to see such good actors giving good performances and the dialogue just unable to match up to it.
