Would be much better without Eric Roberts

I always liked this film, but wondered how great it could have been with someone besides Eric Roberts. His over-the-top screaming of "Man-ny" gets old after the first 20 times he says it. Sometimes it's easy to overlook one weak performance in a film, but not in this case.

Agree. He was irritating.

Agreed, but that the always terrible acting of Eric Roberts could not do this movie much harm says a lot about its qualities.

Normally I don´t ever go beyond 5 minutes in a movie with this terrible actor, but I have seen RUNAWAY TRAIN 3 or 4 times since it came out (I saw it on the BIG screen back then and a couple of times on TV since then). Great uncompromising classic.

It´s still beyond me how he got an Oscar nomination for his acting!???

this was one of erics greatest performances, he was nominated for an oscar award for best actor in a supporting role for this movie.

I agree. Pee Wee Herman would have done a much better job!

Eric Roberts gets so much praise for this movie and Star 80 like he has done something special.Everyone talks about his nominations, like that ever meant something. Halle Berry won an Academy award. Is she or was she ever a good actress ? No ! He always performs in the same way. He always looks retarded. I wonder why his career went down the toillet. Probably because he´s one of the worst things that ever happened to the movie industry. What´s the difference from his character and perfomance in Runaway Train or The Pope of Greenwich Village ? None. Just hearing his mutant voice makes me want to cut myself !

Eric Roberts was AMAZING in "Runaway Train" & deserved to win Best Supp Actor at the Oscars instead of Don Ameche in "Cocoon" (WTF?). His filmography in the 80's was one of the best of that decade alongside Mickey Rourke. You should stick to awful actors like Tom Hardy, Channing Tatum, Vin Diesel & Will Smith and let us real movie fans appreciate the excellence of Eric Roberts' work.

Ps: If Eric have a mutant voice, your idol Tom Hardy can't even talk properly and he looks like a walking dildo.

Eric Roberts acting was so bad in this film. Did you see the end when he was screaming for Manny to push the button when he detached the first engine? Just horrible acting. That bitch was stupid as well. Hold me I don't want to die alone. Just ridiculous. 😂
