Weakest in the series....

I want to like it, but I just don't. It feels wrong, tonally bizarre, and kind of *beep* on the entire premise in general. Freddy doesn't need people to "kill for him", that destroys the entire point of his existence. He does the killing because that is what he wants to do and what makes him uniquely terrifying.

There's nothing utterly terrible about it, although there are plenty of bad aspects, but honestly it may have worked better had a couple names been changed so that it could have been released as something other than a member of this franchise.

I've heard people call it anti-Freddy, but it's really pro-80's slasher.

It's still technically Freddy doing it. He's just possessing Jesse to get at kids while they're awake.

The movie does treat Freddy as a ghost in a way. Had they altered it, it could've passed for a different film, but if you don't like it now, I doubt that would automatically make it better anyway.

I always said that if this movie had been a stand-alone film that wasn't part of a series with a recurring theme and set of rules that it would have been much better. That it's part of a series that is mostly unlike it makes it stick out like a very sore thumb.

I thought it was okay. Not the best of the series but not the worst either. I'd rank it somewhere in the middle.

About 45mins ago I would have totally agreed with you till I read a post here to that changed my mind.

The post explained that Freddy lost most of his power to Nancy. He's basically been stuck in the house for 5yrs. Then a new family moves in and starts to use Jesse to get his power back. He uses Jesse to project himself so he can kill again.

When he gets full power at the pool party he then says so by saying that they are now all his kids.

So I'm now rewatching it with new eyes. It is actually good.

I agrees with the sentiment, meh as a freddy movie, pretty decent 80s vibe slasher. And better then inception. I hated that flick

I could not disagree with this statement more. This is way better than Parts 4, 5, and Freddy's Dead.
