This would've been a good ending

When the Griswolds return from Europe, they see that the US has now been invaded and taken over and divided up by England, France, Italy, and Germany. They wonder why and are told, "Because your country sent you to our countries to cause havoc!!!!!!"

man it's nasty how the great end credits with its song and photos gets cut when running on the stations where i view this, speaking of the end though, spoiler follows here, but what if this had a real dark ending as they crash into the statue of liberty, i wonder if some movie goers in 1985 worried about that. how weird it looks for a movie to have "guest stars" in the opening credits, and i just realised how both this and "christmas vacation" starts off animated, and the kissing bit of audrey from the male host was also weird, as they travel through europe the british encounters are great, like the major from "fawlty towers" almost apologetic clark crashed into him, and eric idle's line "it's just a leg, i've got another one", and ellen's reaction was great when that horrible thing happens to him "it's just a flesh wound, honestly, sorry to bother you but you haven't seen a bike around, have you?", but one bit i never got was how it looks like idle is on the run as he drops down the water when the police appears, how about that chase and idle had an idea for another vacation movie in the 1980s, man that would've been something, and by the way, idle also appears in "national lampoons christmas vacation 2 cousin eddie's island adventure", hey, it's still better than the 2014 "vacation" movie that i consider the worst movie i've ever seen, "vegas vacation" (1997) was at least watchable. okey, funniest scene in this is when clark can't turn left and gets stuck in the roundabout.
