Better without Brand, Andy & Stef?

Does anyone hold the view that The Goonies would have been better without the other characters (Stef, Andy, and Brand) going on the adventure?

I will probably forever hold the opinon that The Goonies would have been a far better film had they left those three characters out of the adventure and their last scenes be with the bike tire-tricycle stuff. Okay, maybe they could have a bit at the end, but my view is that there should have been more emphasis on the friends: Mikey, Mouth, Data, and Chunk and more focus on their friendship amid the great adventure they were on.

One of the things that disappointed me about the movie is they were portrayed as outcasts living in that neighborhood yet nothing of this was mentioned in the film. After all, we really don't see any other kids in the Goondocks and our four kids were a tight-knit bunch. In fact, The Goonies were much like the way my three friends and I were during that very same time circa 1979-85.

Does anyone else share the view that The Goones would have been even better without the older kids tagging along?

I didn't have any problem with those characters, no. Having younger kids and high school kids together gave a different dynamic to the group.
