Was Susan a prostitute?

I was only 13 (and a little naive) when this movie came out and I first saw it, but seeing it now as an adult, it seems to me that Susan is a prostitute. Any thoughts?

No. I don't see how you could think she was a prostitute.

She wasn't a prostitute. She was just someone who lived/bummed off people. I know someone who does this. They have no true home and only a few belongings. Basically, Susan was just someone who didn't want to work so she bummed off people who would help her. She stole because she had no money. And, as for promiscuous, I think she wasn't promiscuous so much as just flirting/teasing guys. I think her boyfriend, Jim, is the only one she fooled around with.

Always thought she was a hustler

I think she was just a freeloader.

No, Roberta was the prostitute, she would turn tricks in the city from nine to noon then went shopping all afternoon.

The gun toting pimp was pretty much the clue.

My bad. I posted this over 3 years ago (in bold) and just read it again. (I don't log in much)

I was being sarcastic in the sense that her sister in-law thought there was a possibility that Roberta was a prostitute.

Nobody "got it" =(

This movie was great and sarcastic as hell, one of my favs...

Not a prostitute at all. She just sleeps around, steals, ect..She does what she needs to do to take care of herself. She stole money and left the hotel room at the start, but she wasn't paid. She took the money and was sneaking out.
