Why did the Bartender turn Paul over to the mob?

He knew Paul wasn't a thief didn't he?

I think that Paul acted suspicious in general and had a shady story, he also vanished for a long time and in a deleted scene the bar tender mentions that he thought that Paul wasnt going to come back again, add that to the fact that he flooded his bathroom and matched the description of the weirdo that the mob was looking for and it makes sense why he got turned over to the mob, he behaves in a suspect way without realizing it and that makes anyone look very bad and guilty.

Well Paul did vanish for a long time time earlier on in the movie and Tom the Bartender does tell him when he returns to his bar that he thought that maybe he really was robbing him, he has a lot of weird experiences with Paul after that and Paul was acting and looking guilty in the cafe before he agreed to go get his keys and help him out.

Then of course Tom goes outside and is seen looking at the drawing of Paul that the angry mob has, he knows that Paul was ranting and behaving suspiciously already and probably thinks that Paul was hiding being a break in robber by pretending to be a regular guy, the fact that the drawing that the mob has matches Paul's appearance doesnt help anything either and he gives in and turns Paul in assuming that he is the neighborhood robber, and he also probably came home and found his overflowed toilet that Paul caused to flood the bathroom inside of his apartment, without trying to clean it up.

So it makes perfect sense for him to turn on Paul, Paul had done nothing yet to make himself look like a nice guy and was starting to look like a small time criminal and Tom just assumed that he was making up the whole story and innocent guy act to save his own ass, makes perfect sense for him to appease Paul and pretend to be his friend and then sell him out to the mob, from Tom's POV.
