This Is the Funniest Film Ever Made

I normally don't like many comedic films, but I have to say that Top Secret gets my nod as the best comedy of all-time. In terms of slapstick, I cannot think of a movie that is more absurd than this one, yet the Zucker Brothers, per usual, use exaggeration and sarcasm to the utmost extreme.

I remember in college when I always watched this movie and only about half of the people in the room thought it was funny. They'd have rather watched Zoolander.

That is what is wrong with my generation.

Damn straight.

I loved this. The underwater fighting scene had me in tears.

i dunno man, while it IS an excellent comedy that history has largely forgotten, you should definitely try watching the zucker crew's FIRST movie, the KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE, you're laughing so hard that you miss 2/3 of the jokes.

I totally agree! Top Secret has something that no other movie has. I have seen this movie so many times since I was a kid, and still I am laughing. It's great to see (here in this forum) people that also love this movie. For about twenty years I have thought that I am the only one that likes this movie.

This movie is hilarious it's definatley in my top 5 comedies with the Naked Gun films and Dumb and Dumber on the list as well.

This was the first ZAZ-film I saw and I still think it's the funniest. I really don't see why Airplane and Naked Gun are considered so much better. When I first saw those two, especially the latter, I was a bit disappointed because there weren't that many jokes. Now I've grow to appreciate those two, but I still think Top Secret is the funniest movie the trio ever made (at least of those I've seen). I mean, the amount of jokes is incredible. It felt like they quadrupled the amount of jokes from the previous movies. There's constantly something happening and after, god knows how many viewings, it still manages to make me smile. Of course Airplane could be considered the pioneer of these kind of films (and I admit it is great and very funny too) but to me, Top Secret is the ultimate "crazy comedy", the one that perfected the formula and has yet to be surpassed.

I miss these kind of movies. Now we have some crap like Epic Movie, Disaster Movie etc. which are not a least bit funny. What we need is a true successor to the ZAZ.

I don't really see what makes Airplane so great, other than it was the first (I like it, but it wasn't that great). The Naked Gun has the best plot and maybe the best laugh-out-loud moments. Top Secret was hilarious, but all over the place.

Thanks for the heads up. Its a bit of a letdown after all these years to find out that its basically the same as the subtitles! I thought it would have been something completely random. No big deal, Thanks again.

This is a great, great movie. The jokes still hold up 25 years later.

This, Airplane and Caddyshack are probably in my top 3.

I hadn't seen it in years, so I wasn't sure it would still be funny. This one stands up well over time. Great movie, consistently funny.

This is a real goof. Pacman part, the East German boy-girl athletes, the identity code phrases. Just on and on. Certainly this one went under the radar screen. Time will tell. Several comments here have found its humor vein. Good sign for rediscovery.
