Underrated

This was a solid, enjoyable flick. It added a lot to the Trek mythos, with the Klingon language and whatnot.

Don't you agree?

reply

Yes, I agree. I wasn’t a fan of bringing back Spock, because it cheapens his sacrifice and undermines the emotional weight of his “death” scene in WoK. That said, I still enjoyed the movie.

Good point.

Yeah. I liked this one. I enjoy all the character moments, especially Dr. McCoy.
When he's in the bar and he's trying to get that alien to take him back to Genesis, that's classic Star Trek. "How can you be deaf with ears like that? How can you get a permit to do a goddamn illegal thing?" Lol

I like when they're trying to leave spacedock. Kirk says, "Now, Mr. Scott." Scotty says, "Sir?" "The doors, Scotty." "Ay, sir, I'm working on it!"

Also the comical way they breakout McCoy. "Don't call me tiny!"

reply

I love that stuff.
And Uhura with "Mr. Excitement."
Kirk being told he can't go back to Genesis and immediately telling his friends, "I am therefore going anyway."
This movie works so well.
It's a testament to friendship, which is kind of what the best Star Trek episodes were about.
I also like the high-minded stuff about making contact with alien races and seeking logical solutions to problems...but what does any of that matter if you don't have friends?

When Bones says "That green-blooded son of a bitch! It's his revenge for all the arguments he lost."
