My Opinion. Fantastic Movie.

Great music. Fantastic movie. Used to watch it over and over. Screened it for a bunch of non-Prince fans back in the day and they loved it too. Good script. People cried. Very emotional and inspirational film.

I'm sorry you didn't watch the movie. Yes, the music are the best parts, but the story, which is semi-autobiographical, is good too. The film was well-received and earned mostly good reviews from critics. Roger Ebert loved it.

I feel the same way. The music is amazing but the plot during the movie is weak. I get more satisfaction listening to just the soundtrack. Apollonia is nice eye candy, though!

It's has got some powerful moments. Powerful.

But when he sings Purple Rain... Jesus Christ.

Powerful enough that it was listed as one of the Top 10 Best Films of 1984.

Never has a film combined such powerful musical performances with a powerful dramatic narrative.

One of my favorite scenes is after his father's attempted suicide, he listens to the lyricless song Lisa and Wendy created and starts playing it on the piano. Extremely moving.

I don't know about "fantastic" movie, but it was pretty good.

Prince was a surprisingly good actor. The themes of domestic violence and how he became like his dad were pretty intense.

One of my all time favorites. I watched it again the day Prince died and just cried like a baby.

I love it and always will.

My god -- it's awful. How it made the top ten "best movies" of 84 I do not know. It's dreadful. Bad script, bad acting.

I like a lot of Prince's music and I think it's terribly sad that he's now gone, but this film was very poor.
