lady victoria wasn't really hot

shoulda had better casting. kinda hurt the story, being that she was such an object of desire

Nick was from Vegas. He probably saw more beautiful women in a month than most guys do in a lifetime. Victoria then had to have something more than looks to get Rob Freaking Lowe to go through such effort to get her. That was class, breeding, and royalty (and I guess an accent). Amanda did a fine job portraying those attributes IMO.

That woman was off the charts hot, I don't know what kind of ladies you're used to.

I'm with girlnamedsue. I believe the character needed to be a mix of class, charm, attractive, with enough distance from Nick's (Lowe's) station in life. She needed to be unattainable - more fantasy princess than real-life hotness. I thought Amanda Pays played her perfectly. Actually, I saw this movie twice in the theater specifically because she had that "it" factor. Fairly middle-of-the-road movie, but Amanda... she was Princess Diana-hot as far as I was concerned in the mid-80s. :-)

The audience for this film was teenaged girls who thought Rob Lowe was hot. They deliberately didn't want too hot a co-star so that the audience could imagine that Nick would have liked them better.
