He gave one of the most terrifying performances I've ever seen in a horror film, infusing Fred Krueger with dark humorous menace and horrifying malice in exhale measure. He became Fred Krueger and it still stays with you after 32 years. I know the Academy always saw horror as a less-respected genre but that doesn't lessen Englund's iconic portrayal.

I always felt that way too. When I met him earlier this month, I told him he was the only person who really scared the crap out of me. He does creepy evil so well.

shareI don't agree that he should have won or been nominated for an Oscar but he should have been nominated for a Saturn Award. He was more memorable than Dick Miller in Gremlins.
