Robert Englund was robbed of an Oscar nom for Best Actor.

He gave one of the most terrifying performances I've ever seen in a horror film, infusing Fred Krueger with dark humorous menace and horrifying malice in exhale measure. He became Fred Krueger and it still stays with you after 32 years. I know the Academy always saw horror as a less-respected genre but that doesn't lessen Englund's iconic portrayal.

Especially in this movie, he was pure brilliance.

Haters gonna hate

I always felt that way too. When I met him earlier this month, I told him he was the only person who really scared the crap out of me. He does creepy evil so well.

I agree. It's really no wonder Freddy became as huge as he did.

This has to be a joke thread right?

No way would the Academy nominate some no name actor in some cheap slasher film.

And it would of been supporting actor not lead anyway but still.

I love this movie and Robert's performance but COME ON NOW.

Only because horror isn't respected that's the reason he didn't

I don't agree that he should have won or been nominated for an Oscar but he should have been nominated for a Saturn Award. He was more memorable than Dick Miller in Gremlins.
