Godzilla 1985 on DVD/Blu Ray?

Does anyone know if and when this will be released on either DVD and Blu Ray? I used to have it on VHS. I really thought it would be released around the same time the original 1954 Gojira and 1956 USA Godzilla release. Also was Godzilla '85 done with both the Japanese and American versions like the original one was?

SEPTEMBER 13th! From Kraken releasing who handled the US Blu Ray releases of 'Godzilla vs the Sea Monster', 'Godzilla vs the Smog Monster', and 'Godzilla vs Gigan'

The original Japanese cut, with both Japanese audio and English audio(It is the international English dub of the film)

IT WILL NOT include the Americanized 'Godzilla 1985' version of the film with Raymond Burr. It would be neat to have both versions, but I can totally live with just having the original.

Evidently that Americanized version, the 1985 version, has a TON of rights issues and legal ambiguities that make it very very hard to try and secure home market distribution rights to.

So I can live with that.

The original cut is the version I most want to see and most want included...the Americanized version would ultimately just be a 'cool bonus feature'

Either way, this is great news for Godzilla fans everywhere!

I just got the new American DVD of Return of Godzilla. The picture is really good in comparison to the VHSs that have been available before. You can still see some strings on the model airplanes though.

The movie itself is actually really good. There are some points where the Godzilla suit and the miniatures look fake by the standards of today, but overall it looks really good.

The movie has a lot of "cold war" themes going on, but the movie makers handle it really well in this movie. There's a scene where the USSR and the USA want to drop a nuke on Godzilla to kill him, but Japan respectfully declines due to all of the residual damage it would cause. There's a shot of the Japanese Prime Minister at the end of the film that almost had me tearing up.

Overall, this DVD/Blu-Ray is a sound investment. The film is flawed, but overall, it's amazing as a sequel to the original 1954 Gojira.
