Guess all the kiddies who saw Inception are downrating this classic...

They can't view a 1984 movie through 2010 eyes.

I'm 19, watched Inception opening day and loved it. Saw Dreamscape today and LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED it. To each his own.

Both are fantastic movies, cant compare.
But, we should appreciate the creativeness.

they are two different movies from two different eras. I'd have to say that Inception was far more mature and in depth than Dreamscape. If someone had made inception back in the "obvious eighties", it would have been like 2001. Too abstract and intricate for the majority audience of the time.

Possible Spoilers to both movies - As a kid in the 80s when Dreamscape was released in the theatre (I was 10 or 11 in 1983/84) I found the story easier to follow and the dream sequences easy to relate to. If I was that same age in 2010 viewing Inception I probably would have thought WTF?? Both have different storys but use the dream sequence similarly. I felt Dreamscape was more accurate to how dreams really are imo, at least the nightmares & funny dreams I have experienced in my lifetime. I like how in this movie you could create things from your mind and incorporate them into the dream. The special effects were relatable to being in that trancelike state before dreams occur. I gave Dreamscape a rating of 8.

With Inception everything was razorsharp crisp and vivid which I didnt like but I liked the idea of multi-level dreaming which was an interesting twist to the whole dream concept where they can go from one dream to something totally unrelated in the next moment. Also the way they try to influence people was similar to Dreamscape. I found it interesting that unlike Dreamscape where you die in your dream you truly die in real life, in Inception you go into an unpredictable coma without that kick they described. Ive only seen Inception once so if I saw it a couple more times I could probably apreciate it just as well as the other but I feel it is overrated as a film, I think it currently is rated a 9 and I'd give it closer to an 8.

"Inception was far more mature "

hardly it was just Caprio and a gang of blokes running around shootin their guns off like Yosemite Sam

not every movie made in the 80's or earlier is a classic

so many movies, so little time

Dreamscape damn sure isn't a classic. I'm going to go with "it hasn't aged well." The visual effects are terrible, the story fairly pedestrian, directing is nothing special and neither is the screenplay. It's not a bad film but the dreams idea has been done better.

Inception ripped off Dreamscape.

And I tried Incep. Boooooring and hard to follow.
DS is much, much better.

Let me know if I'm on your ignore list.
Thanx!
