Some people make the argument that Dr. Huxtable is a great guy and totally separate from the bill cosby scumbag.

Actually, that isn't true.

Sondra and Denise are quite obviously of different races than those of Cliff and Claire, and of their other brother and sisters.

Therefore, the only possible explanations are either:

A> Claire committed adultery on Cliff.
B> Cliff committed adultery on Claire.
C> Both Cliff and Claire committed adultery on each other.

...one of the above must be true.

In addition, this point below must also be true:

D> Denise and Sondra are illegitimate children who were not conceived by both Cliff & Claire.

Moreover, given the indisputable adultery committed by either Cliff, Claire, or both Cliff and Claire, one or more of either Theo, Vanessa and Rudy may also be illegitimate children albeit from an adulterous relationship consisting of a partner who was of the same race as Cliff and/or Claire.

The bottom line: by virtue of the otherwise-impossible racial differences between the parents and some of their children and between some the children and their sisters and brother, the show itself proves beyond any doubt that the Huxtables are adulterous scumbags.

You're comment is so stupid about Denise and Sondra being a different race. Black people can come in all shades. Two darker skin parents can produce a very light skin child. My parents are caramel complexion and I'm dark skinned (Rudy Huxtable's complexion) and my brother is very light skinned and we have the same birth parents. My cousin in light skin and her father and mother and sister are all dark skinned like me and they are all blood.

Sure, but all those shades are not made by two individuals.

For Cliff & Claire to have made Denise & Sondra, they collectively would have needed to have all of Denise's & Sondra's genetic information within themselves prior to conception...except they don't, so they couldn't have conceived them.

Queencity clearly wrote that his/her own parents did have the genetic information to create two children of widely varying skintones. Your response, Navaro, completely ignored or denied this. Did you not understand or not believe what they said??

Navaros - how can you be sure that Cliff and Clair don't have Denise and Sondra's genetic information? I know that Clair, at least - could have very well have had that "information". Have you seen Phylica Rashad's real life father and brother? Heck, even her real-life sister (Debbie Allen) doesn't look much different from Denise and Sondra.

But I don't know why I'm still arguing so hard for the Huxtables' "legitimacy". By all means - let's joke about the various sordid scenarios that could have taken place (and I just finished doing this in another thread). It's just that when it comes to the show (and not Cosby himself) - I'm still in that mode where I cannot throw out the baby with the bathwater. And even if Denise and Sondra were the result of some extramarital hanky-panky - it doesn't mean that it was physically impossible for Cliff and Clair to conceive children of that complexion.

Since the show was based on his real family, maybe Cosby wanted actresses that represented his real wife's color or heritage.

Look, Navaros had it right, all you would-be genetic experts. I'm a brown-skinned African-American whose parents were dark- and brown-skinned. But my maternal grandmother and one of her sisters were light enough to have passed for white if they'd wanted to. My godmother was also extremely fair-skinned. I know a family where the first six kids are all brown and the seventh is as light as it gets, but they all had the same parents. Why is this topic still up for grabs in 2015????

You don't understand the black race at all. Black people are so genetically mixed up, they can have children with blond hair and blue eyes. A black child in my neighborhood has bright red hair and freckles. It's the darnest thing. Go to southern states like Tennessee.

I noticed the wide range of shading in this show when I was a child.

my mother also noticed it and said that they must have gone towards ABILITY OF ACTING and not LOOK ALIKE.

so that is my point.

further proof that shows look at ABILITY rather than look alike:

alexander rozhenko was a character on Star Trek TNG and was Worf's [a Klingon] son. Alexander was a Klingon as well and like his father and all Klingons on this show: black.

the kid was played by BRIAN BONSALL --yep, the kid who played little Andy from FAMILY TIES. Brian is white. brian was the best equipped for the job so he got it and they had a whole boatload of make up for him.

In Black families, it is very possible to have very light children and darker children at the same time. And, no, there is no infidelity involved.

Sometimes, people will say how does a light-skin daughter come from black parents with much darker skin. It's very possible genetically speaking, based upon certain factor. The most common occurrence, is the appearance of recessive genes that came from grand-parent or great grandparent/great grandparent.

Even mixed Black children do not always come out as what people perceived to be as mixed or light-skin. A mixed Black person can have darker skin and Afrocentric features, very easily.

Another cause, the lack of melanin concentration. That could be caused by a condition, disease, or disorder, not typically anything serious or life-threatening. It just happens to manifest itself as a lighter baby.

People keep worrying about genetics and whatnot, when in fact it's really simple. He's a gynecologist and took whatever kid he liked, right out the oven and kept it for himself. Cosby style.
