The cinema and story line was great. Being an American-Filipino I knew I recognized filipino actors, locations, and language that was not Indonesian, but tagalog, the language spoken in the Philippines. I'm guessing the use of the Philippines and availability of "Indonesian" appearing extras led to many filipinos who did not speak Indonesian but Tagalog. I am also guessing the director thought his audience would not know the difference.

shareThere's a lot of Tagalog lines on this movie. The scene where Guy walking through a barricade where he got his eyes smashed by a gun, the soldier speaks tagalog, and then speaks bahasa Indonesia. that's really confusing. But yes most of the speaking are in bahasa indonesia. I just don't get it why they would confuse audience by speaking tagalog, that's irrelevant with the movie. This is not a movie about riot in the Philippines!

I definitely understood them speaking Indonesian, like when Guy's colleagues in the office whisper to each other, or someone shouts in the marketplace.
