Times Have Changed for the Better re Respect for Military Service


Some of the things said to the boy (or that he recounted hearing from others) about his young father’s death as a soldier in Vietnam were really ugly. It didn’t sound credible that people would say things like this to a kid about his solder-father. I know Vietnam vets were treated badly upon return to the U.S. in the 60’s but this talk sounded ridiculously harsh and shameful for the early 80’s timeframe in which the movie was set
