Remake?

This is the type of plot that could be remade today quite well.

I agree. I'd probably want to see it set in a different city, not LA (so many movies are set in LA) but with some minor changes and with a good cast, I agree it would be neat to see.

I heard on some entertainment podcast that there is a remake in the works. Make some sense with all the court stories in the news lately.

There is now officially a remake. There is a page for it here on imdb.

Anyone know any details about the remake? IMDB will not let you get to the page unless you sign up for their 'pro' section.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

This movie is the reason I'm studying for the LSATS. I sure hope the remake does it justice. I am worried it will be filled with more action, which was the one weak point of the original.

I also think Holbrook's performance may be hard to replicate.

The premise is intriguing and it could certainly be redone in interesting and different ways.

"Flash, Flash, I love you, but we only have fourteen hours to save the Earth!"

Meh, Earth is too exciting. Get rid of NYC and all that excitement stuff and find a nice blasted kingdom to rule... that's my suggestion.

But anyway, if they did re-do the Star Chamber I'd hope:

1 - that the contacts between the judges are done purely via internet/phone contacts (no face to face meetings); and,
2 - that part of the movie (perhaps even half) is the tracking down of the remainder of the judges that are part of the 'Star Chamber' (making it a little bit of a investigation 'techno thriller' kind of thing.

My reason for saying this is that there is no way I would be a party to something like this and have people know who I was. The above is how I'd set up that kind of organisation.

WOULD LOVE TO SEE A REMAKE OF THIS WITH A MORE MODERN DAY TWIST(OF COURSE). MAYBE PUT DOUGLAS, AS A HOMAGE, IN THE ROLE OF HAL HOLBROOK AND MAYBE A BEN AFFLECK IN THE DOUGLAS ROLE.(I'VE GROWN TO APPRECIATE HIM OVER THE YEARS).
WITH SO MANY TRULY GUILTY PEOPLE WALKING THE STREETS TODAY I WONDER IF THEIR ARE SOME LITTLE SECRET SOCIETIES IN PLACE DOING THINGS LIKE THIS. NOT THAT I WOULD CONDONE THIS BUT I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED.

Cool.

It's kind of surprising it hasn't happened yet.
