Did they really have to add the sizzling? Great movie nonetheless

What a great observation showing how an unrealistic sound effect adds to the visual. When you realize that the alcohol is going to be poured on the wound you know that's gotta hurt. Matt Dillon's reaction and the sizzle drive the point home.

Not realistic, but I assume it was done for dramatic effect. Funny enough, I've seen the same occurrence in tons of movies with the same sound. It's effective though, to say the least.
