Any fans of this film around here?
I love it! It's delicious, witty and sweet.
The dialogue is something else, maybe because it was based on a play.
M. Steenburgen and D. Moore are perfect and sympathetic in the leading roles.

A real "romantic comedy" indeed!

I cannot believe no one enjoys this wonderful film...

I don't hate it, but it's not exactly the highest on my list of favorite Dudley films. (I'm really really partial to Lovesick though.)

There's some good points though that make it worth watching. And hey - it practically starts off with naked Dudley! How much better can ya get than that? ;) (Sorry, inner fangirl coming out...)

The pacing of the film is the only thing that gets on my nerves about this movie. Certain parts that I feel should be more emphasized on are either sped through quickly or skipped altogether, while certain scenes that not as much time should've been spent on got dragged out too far.

Just my two cents.

Maybe the somewhat slow pace (for a film) is due to it being based on a play, some scenes are very theatrical.

I think I must have one of those faces you can't help believing.

Sweet is also the first adjective that comes to mind when I think of this movie. I really liked it a lot. I didn't expect there to be a lot of chemistry between Moore and Mary Steenburgen but I was totally wrong. They were absolutely wonderful together in this movie. One of my favorite Steenburgen performances.

I love this film. I watched it for the first time years ago and fell for it. It is so wonderful, so underrated. How is it everyone hates this movie?

count me in as a fan. dudley moore wasn't just likable in this, he was on the verge of downright sexy. the way he would look at phoebe! i loved the tenderness and affection that phoebe and jason had for each other over the long haul of time.

some have complained about the pacing. i thought it was just right.

I haven't seen it in nearly 30 years, but I remember really not liking it. Yes, it's based on a play, but they didn't have to make it look like a stage play that happened to be filmed. I love the actors, hated the style in which the film was made, and none of its other redeeming features made up for that. Too many of the scenes looked as if they plopped a camera down in the center of the stage, the director yelled "Action!", and off they went!

One of my all-time favorites! I was only 14 when it came out, but saw it on VHS, when I was working in a video store at 18. Now, I've got it on DVD and pull it out, whenever I want to watch something ... simple, but sweet!
