Greetings!
I really liked this movie. It's quiet, soft and slow.
Can anyone recommend me another similar movie?
Small town with outsider arriving to town. Small movie, etc...

that's a good one (original Wicker Man) - obviously not as warm and cuddly as Local Hero, but it does have the whole -mystical reality- thing going on. Field of Dreams isn't as good as Local Hero, but similar in ways. Maybe a mix of both comedic and dramatic: The Fisher King

there was a movie out a few years ago with similar connections to this called promised land.

stars matt damon(in the mac role) and instead of buying the town to set up a refinery they are looking to start fracking.

give it a go, it was decent

I would recommend the tv-series Northern Exposure. It took a lot of ideas from this film.

Wonder Boys. The IMDB message board for Wonder Boys is very unusual because its full of love for Wonders Boys.

Another one might be Say Anything.
