The Pruitt Igoe myth.

In case anybody is interested, they made a documentary about Pruitt Igoe, which is also present in Koyaanisqatsi:

The whole idea of "Pruitt Igoe" was racist to begin with,
and ultimately the'innovations' turned out to be nothing
more than a littany of defects which led to that place
being thankfully demolished.

Human beings were not meant to live like that.

"Human beings were not meant to live like that."

But now that the whole thing is demolished and the idea scrapped, thank goodness no one has to live like that anymore.

In my opinion, it's detrimental to the human being to have to be crammed in tightly on top of each other, like sardines on a shelf, just to wait until the corporation needs to exploit that human being for something nature-destructive or menial.

Everyone should be able to live in their own house, not in an apartment building. To me, those square-dominated apartment buildings are an absolute nightmare, unnatural hell for creative, thinking and feeling human beings.

We're packaged into these boxy buildings like robots, then we move from one boxy building to another, and waste our life away working for corporations that do nothing but pollute, destroy (both nature and our freedom), just to come home exhausted so we can be passive recipients of all the conditioning and indoctrination that flows from the boxy screens to our boxed-in brains, and the square, or box-shape dominates our whole day from beginning to end, until we don't even see the nature with its myriad of curves, shapes and colors anymore.

We drive gray and colorless, dull-looking cars to commute on our gray, dull-looking roads to our grey, dull-looking offices to do dull and boring, repetitive, menial things in dull-looking, grey cubicles.. everything is either grey, black or otherwise colorless.

One half of the humanity is allowed a more colorful expression, while the other half is not allowed to like colors (unless they're worn by the other half, then it can be seen as 'attractive'), let alone wear them, or use them.

No one dares to own, let alone drive, a brightly-colored, interestingly-shaped car anymore. Even in 1982, things were much better in this regard, people at least still wore colors and drive them, too.

A modern-day version of this movie would be an absolute, colorless nightmare (except the nature parts).

So thank goodness that Pruitt Igoe project was scrapped, now everything is great and nicely shaped, harmonious, balanced, nature-respecting, human dignity-respecting and colorful, and no one has to live in those horrible, boxy apartment buildings on top of each other in crammed, tiny apartments until the corporate ovelords call us back to work in their boxy buildings and halls.

i saw this a few years back i thought it was fairly well done.

make no mistake about it.. Pruitt Igoe was meant to fail. there were too many things that could go wrong- and did.
