Vigilante or Deathwish

I seen the second to fourth deathwish but never saw the first deathwish. At this time deathwish is a little high compare to other modern movies. The movie Vigilante has been recommended to by people who like deathwish should i get vigilante on deathwish. Since i'm big fan of vigilante/action films would this be good pick.

Definitely see the first Death Wish. It's actually a very well made movie, not just a revenge exploitataion flick.....

I bought the DVD of Vigilante today, but haven't yet watched it. I'm guessing Vigilante will be the more violent and action-packed of the two as its director was responsible for Maniac! and the Maniac Cop series. However I'm sure that Death Wish will prove to be the better of the two with regards to greatness. That's not to say that Vigilante doesn't have a shot at being more enjoyable....

There are tons of urban revenge flicks, but two Ive recently seen that are below the radar:

Ms.45

Directed by Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant, King of New York,) a raped deaf mute woman takes revenge on the male gender with her rapist's .45.

Gordon's War

1970s blaxploitation flick about black Vietnam vets waging war against Harlem drug dealers. Here the term "blaxploitation" is only meant to mean a low-budget 1970s black action movie. There's no fancy soundtrack, naked kung-fu, rhyming pimps...It's a gritty urban action drama.

Vigilante was straight.

My biggest problem with it was that it felt underplotted and unfinished. Death Wish is definitely the better of the two, but Vigilante is still worth a watching....However Id recommened the above mentioned Gordon's War over it....(and Gordon's War actually came out before Death Wish. Ive never seen the two connected, but Gordon's War mightve been the one to set it all off...)

That's a good question I was just thinking the same thing.I remeber watching Vigilante years ago as a kid.It would be cool to see it again.

I just watched both and really enjoyed Vigilante more than Deathwish.

Vigilante was good, but I think Death Wish was far better.

More gritty and felt more real.

I preferred Vigilante, mainly because I liked both Forster and Williamson's characters better than Bronson's. I like all these vigilante action flicks, I'll check out the ones mentioned in these posts. Anyone got other recommendations?

just watched, its a pretty damn good movie though ends a bit abruptly like there was going to be a sequel that followed it up, now there is a movie called Vigilante 2 but its not a sequel to this movie and is pretty *beep* actually, I recommend Vigilante if u can find it cheap

Watched Vigilante five years ago and I was rather disappointed with it. I felt it didn't have enough action in it and I thought the villains were cardboard cut-outs, but after hearing everyone's opinions on this forum, I wouldn't mind checking it out again.

I've seen Death Wish a few times and it's probably the best of the entire series. It's the most believable and suspenseful of the flicks, the action is exciting and the ending's nice, too, with Bronson pointing his fingers at those punks, in the shape of a gun. Cool.

Death Wish wasn't bad but Vigilante is just a cool little thriller plus it's got Fred in it!!

So I'm slow to watching both Death Wish and Vigilante but just watched them both this past week. I really liked both but felt that Death Wish lets you down since he never gets the group that killed his wife and raped his daughter. That left me disappointed afterwards. I was hoping he would of got them even though he wouldn't of known it was them but we would of known. Vigilante was fun and I liked the group that would go after the scum but that one felt unfinished and maybe a little rushed. I know he gets the main 2 dudes but I was like "what about the rest of that gang?" lol I know it's old now but I just felt like it could of been so much more. I'd love to see both remade one day.

He got that crummy judge who always seemed to let them off the hook! Death wish was 70's, vigilante was 80's so each in its own time frame.

Spoiler alert for them spoil sports out there! Y'all like spoiled milk, stop crying over it!

I liked both...
Bronson was always good.
and with Forster and Williamson... Vigilante was good also..

though I agree.. Vigilante seemed a little rushed at the end.
