Oh, my god, 'Church police' sketch

What the hell happened?? The rat tart, the wig... I couldn't stop laughing, Terry Jones' face is priceless!!! I loooooved how Graham, John Clesse and Mike tried to cover him while he was putting the wig back. It's not that usual to see the monty python gang laughing, so definetly that must be my favorite moment of this great show. How I wish I was there!! (but I wasn't even born yet, I'm afraid)

Corpsing has to be one of my favourite aspects of live entertainment. I always keep an eye out for it and it warms my heart, it really does.

I think a bit of it is staged. If you notice that Terry Jones flings his head violently in an effort to purposefully throw his wig off. I think it's supposed to kind of free and loose to lead into the lumberjack song, where Eric says "I never wanted to be in such a shambolic sketch".

Havent seen this in a long time but it I got the feeling that the only "fun" thing about this is to make it look like a falied sketch. Was it a real sketch to begin with?

reply

It's performed on "Monty Python's Flying Circus," so yes.
